Keletlhokile, thank you for chatting to us. Please tell us about yourself and where you are from?
Cujane Sannah Keletlhokile is a 22 years old young lady who was born and bred at Verdwaal Village in the North West Province but is currently in Mmabatho studying her Mechanical Engineering.

When and where did your love for sports begin?
My love for chess begun when I was learning from my teacher Mr Morekisi, I was still at Dingake primary school and I never looked back from then.

Why did you choose chess?
I have chosen to play chess because it increases a person's thinking capacities, helps with calculations and life decisions. It is very challenging and helps a person to make brighter decisions in life.

You recently went to Cape Town to represent North West. Please tell us more about it and the experience?
I really enjoyed it and had fun at Cape Town and would really wish to be there again in future. I  was playing board 1 and managed to win 7 games over 8, and that really made me realise that I can be able to win all games if I put more effort.

What do you think of the state of chess in North West and what can be done to improve it?
I think most people don't know how to play chess because t's not taught that much, and there's no classes of chess that teaches from the start at our communities. And I think it can improve by creating classes that teaches from the beginning, not only at tournaments, but also recruit those who master chess to help those who are starting.

What inspires you?
Chess masters inspire me. I wish and pray to see myself grown a lot in chess. So anyone that plays chess perfectly, inspires me.

What has been some of your career highlights?
Some of my chess career highlights was going places that I have never been to before, for an example: this was my first time being at Cape Town and I really had a good time.

What advice would you give someone who wants to become a chess player?
Chess requires a person to be more patient when learning, you can't just wake up and master chess. You need to learn something new everytime when playing it. When things doesn't happen quicker than expected, don't just decide to give up on chess. Keep on learning and growing, and once you be there never ever look back‼️

What do you still want to achieve in your career?
I still want to learn more about this sport so that I can master it and achieve lots of awards.
